THE LAST WILD RIVERS OF THE WORLD
5-part documentary series developed by Friederike Schlumbom
The five-part documentary series explores the planet's last wild rivers, which are threatened with extinction. Told from the rivers' perspective, it reveals the richness of ecosystems, the crucial role of rivers as “green highways” for biodiversity, and the deep and enduring relationship between indigenous peoples and these environments.
Rather than following a geographical route, each episode highlights unique stories and wonders. Throughout the narrative, a central message emerges: these rivers are natural and vital treasures, now threatened by dams, mining, and climate change.
